Bio of INGA

Inga Kurciša is a passionate dancer from Latvia with an interesting background.

She began dancing at the age of 6, with “show” dance. She then broadened her horizons with ballet and hip hop. But after the birth of her 1st child, she started again, this time with line dancing, and it was then that she crossed paths with west coast swing, which she fell in love with.

After teaching this dance for several years in Riga, she realized that she had run away from the obvious: “she wanted to throw herself body and soul into dance, and wanted dance to be an integral part of her life”. So she decided to return to university to study dance and dance education. The disciplines she chose were hip hop, ballet, jazz, contemporary dance and Latvian folk dance.

What intrigued and fascinated her about West Coast Swing? It’s a dance that fosters creativity and is constantly evolving. She loves the great freedom it offers in the choice of possible movements to express herself. She’s also convinced that you can learn something new every day, and that WCS allows you to really grow as a dancer.

“For me, dance is breathing. It’s a necessity, not just a hobby. For me, it’s a way of expressing my emotions, whether joy or sadness”. Inga is a human dancer, generous, respectful and close to people. She is an attentive teacher whose pedagogy will take you on a gentle journey and help you grow.

Bio of Browly

Browly Adjavon lived in several African and European countries before settling in France in 1998. For as long as he can remember, he’s loved to move to all kinds of rhythms, alone or with friends.

It was during his university studies that he discovered partner dancing with Puerto Rican salsa, which he taught for several years.

In 2008, he discovered West Coast Swing during a workshop, but it wasn’t until 2011 that he found it again and took a real interest in it. What attracts him to this style of dance is above all the fact that it can be danced to many different types of music, as well as the freedom of movement it offers by not being totally “standardized”.

He then decided to throw himself wholeheartedly into West Coast Swing, and toured festivals in France and abroad to learn and immerse himself in this dance. Along the way, he discovered his love for movement on the dance floor and improvising with others. He was soon offered a partnership and began teaching dance in the summer of 2011. After teaching what he himself had learned about dance, he gradually allowed himself to focus on movement and exchange on the dance floor, using West Coast Swing as his research platform.

He continues to put all his energy into exploring the universe of possibilities of movement for two (techniques, subtleties and evolutions), as well as refining his pedagogy and his own movement. So, every day, he studies, analyzes and seeks to understand and feel better, with the aim of always progressing as a dancer and as an educator. What he loves most of all is moving and sharing his passion with others.

Today, Browly sees himself as an alchemist of two-person movement to music! He doesn’t see himself as an instructor, or a teacher, or even as a dance professor, but simply as a sharer* and a companion in the exploration of movement. He is honored to have participated in several festivals (large and small) and continues to criss-cross France and Europe, alone or with his current partner, Inga K. He is recognized in the community as a social dancer, but also for the experimental yet rigorous pedagogy of his workshops, where his specialties are technique, movement understanding and musical interpretation. In his workshops, he takes you on a journey through movement with simplicity, passion and good humor.

*Sharer = a person who shares. In this case, a person who shares his or her vision, leaving the other free to do what he or she wants with it.
